How to play?
The goal is to collect points by shooting photos for illustrating stories written by people in the web.
The player who collects the most points is the winner of the game. There are two tasks for you:
One task is to shoot photos representing nouns that are extracted from story sentences
created by people on the storymashup.org website in real-time. Your phone receives these nouns
automatically and shows them as keywords in a list on your screen.
All you need to do is to select a keyword.
The phone camera will open automatically and start a countdown timer that grants you between 60-90 seconds
to shoot the photo. The photo will be sent automatically to the game server. Note: you do not have to
select every keyword you get, since new keywords will come in all the time.
The other task is to match keywords to images taken by other players. This task appears on your phone
every now and then. Your screen will show the image and a list with four keywords including the correct one.
All you need to do is to guess which keyword represents the image. Note: This image is sent at the same
time to another player for guessing, so you are competing. Therefore, be swift when guessing the right keyword.
Please remember:
- It is not allowed to write the keyword on anything and then take a picture of it.
- Photos of other people than game players cannot be shown on the Reuters sign. Thus it is important to recognizably include the player t-shirt or the raincoat in photos of other players.
- A humble request from the moderator: Please, please don't take nasty pictures - sex, violence, all that.
How to gain points?
You get:
- 1 point for shooting a photo
- 6 points for guessing correctly
- 9 points for a photo that is taken by you and correctly guessed by some other player
The points are accumulated during the whole game. You can see your own score and rank all the time on the lower part of the phone screen. By pressing "Player" on the main screen you can see a list of the other players who are among the 20 best. The list is ordered according to rank. Note: The list starts always with your nickname, but the ranking position starts only with the nickname after that.
What are the prizes?
The four best players will receive an N80 phone. Additionally, every quarter of an hour we will trigger
a prize draw among the 20 best performing players of the previous 15 minutes.
The winner will receive a restaurant voucher worth of $150. If you are among those 20 qualified players
at the time, you will see a ranking notification (e.g. quarter 2nd) behind the regular score on your phone.
This rank will be reset every new quarter of an hour. The winners of the game and the prize draws will be
announced in the evening party.
Any other tips?
By pressing "Player" and highlighting a player's name in that list and clicking "gallery" you can
see the images taken by that player. The ranking of yourself and other players can be checked.
Hint: Consider joining or forming a team of 2-4 players! Playing the game in teams is great fun and you can easily ask
your fellow players to act out challenging keywords.
